Sometimes I forget to remember / Sausalito 2016

"Wer nicht von dreitausend Jahren sich weiß Rechenschaft zu geben, bleib im Dunkeln unerfahren, mag von Tag zu Tage leben." Zitat Goethe

As an immigrant the process of transformation; leaving behind, looking forward and embracing the new does require a certain ability to dissect and rebuild the partial self. The circumstance of asking the question how to redefine under the newly gained possibilities comes with various factors and fields for the subject to consider. It is therefore vital to consistently evaluate what to keep and what to give up. The underlying intention of this work is certainly driven by the own experience during this process of migration but is also relevant to any change as we travel through live. The elasticity to forget and to remember and how they are connected in a dialog lies at the core of this work. A place or an object are coordinates we can use to navigate. Keeping it sacred will radiate strength as we move on.
