Lantern books / Zürich 2013

As part of the exhibition "Space is the Place" three Lantern Books appeared in company of M.O.F.U, WORDITECTURE and IN YOUR ROOM. The Lantern books are based on the concept of the calendar works of Tian Harlan and visualize 7 days. A weeks work in its archival form the Lantern book. The facination of the dramaturgy in movies, the impact of cut and scenery in combination with the fact that Tian Harlan had an aversion against the movie industry the temptation was too strong to resist. A movie in seven lanterns or 90 mins told in seven days. Slow Art. One image every 24 hours with the possibility to forward and rewind each day, seeing the past and looking into the future while projecting (day) and reflecting (night). Each days work (lantern) in the book is extracted as a pair of individual lanterns. The pair comes with one envelope. One lantern is to be shared with someone to engage in a dialog while one is kept in the own calendar room.
